How to Prepare Our Hearts for Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday is coming! This Holy Week, we are reflecting on the events that preceded Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice on the Cross. Our Savior modeled a life surrendered to our Heavenly Father. He humbled Himself to wash the feet of His disciples, prayed earnestly in the face of suffering, and forgave even His enemies in the moments before His death. His sacrificial act conquered sin and death forever!

  • Serve Others as Jesus Served

When our precious Savior washed the feet of His disciples, He modeled a life of serving others. We should be doing the same. Let’s look for ways to humble ourselves and serve those He places in our path with love and grace.

"When He had washed their feet and put on His outer garments and resumed His place, He said to them, 'Do you understand what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.'" – John 13:12-14 (ESV)

In the Kingdom of God the last are first, and the first are last. Christ's example teaches us how to serve those around us in humility and love. Join Laurie, Priscilla Shirer, Victoria Osteen, Chrystal Evans Hurst, and Elaine Fisher for this powerful conversation.

  • Choose Gratitude

“And He took a cup, and when He had given thanks He said, 'Take this, and divide it among yourselves.'”

“And He took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.’” – Luke 22: 17,19 (ESV)

During the Last Supper with His disciples, Jesus modeled gratitude. He knew what He was about to face and still gave thanks to the Father. How much more should we live with grateful hearts?

  • Surrender Daily

“Then Jesus told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.’” – Matthew 16:24 (ESV)

At Calvary, Jesus paid for every sin and healed every disease. So, what does it mean for us “take up our cross”? When we deny our earthly desires and surrender to His will, we gain Heavenly rewards. It doesn’t mean a life of ease, but our God promises that He will be with us through the highs and lows of life.

  • Forgive as Jesus Forgave Us

“And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on His right and one on His left. And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’” – Luke 23:33-34 (ESV)

  • Walk in Victory

When Jesus rose again on that third day—God’s redemption plan was complete once and for all! We can walk in victory because our Savior LIVES!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” – Peter 1:3 (ESV)

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for what our Savior has done for us—we can’t help but praise Him! Now we get to rest in the finished work of Christ!
