Dear Momma, your children belong to the Lord. He has trusted you with that precious life to love, care for, and teach the wonder of His ways. Whether you are a biological or adoptive mom, if God has brought children into your life then you have the beautiful opportunity to raise them God’s way and show them how to live a life of faith.
Children are a blessing and a gift from the Lord. – Psalm 127:3 (CEV)
God chose YOU as the parent for your baby. He formed your child in the womb and knows the number of hairs on their head! And He will equip you every day with all that you need to parent your child—each with his or her own personality and needs. On the days when you are tired and overwhelmed, look to your Heavenly Father. When you have reached your limit and are at the end of your rope, that is where God’s strength begins. His grace fills every gap. God has fresh wisdom and new mercies for you—today!
Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 (AMP)
TEACH YOUR CHILDREN FAITH
When you need encouragement on your parenting journey, turn to these promises:
Isaiah 54:13
All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. (NIV)
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. (NLT)
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (NLT)
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always and delight in your faith; be unceasing and persistent in prayer; in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. (AMP)
PRAY OVER YOUR CHILDREN
One of the greatest gifts you can give your children is to pray God’s Word over them:
Numbers 6:24-26
I pray that the Lord will bless and protect you, and that He will show you mercy and kindness. May the Lord be good to you and give you peace. (CEV)
3 John 1:2
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. (ESV)
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (ESV)
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (ESV)
DECLARE GOD’S TRUTH OVER YOUR HOUSEHOLD
Take every opportunity to remind your child who they are in Christ! These verses are just a few that help us remember who and Whose we are:
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)
Psalm 121:5-6
The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. (NLT)
Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. (AMP)
If you are reading this and feeling discouraged because your child is far from God—remember that God is with your child. You may have children who were not raised in faith—but we are here to remind you that nothing is lost in God’s Kingdom. God has not forgotten you or your child! He loves your baby even more than you do.
“...the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid…” -Luke 12:7 (NLT)
Whether your child is 5 days old or 50 years old, never stop praying for your child. Stand on God’s promises—declare His truth out loud over your kids, it’s never too late. No matter what you are facing, placing your child in God’s hands is the safest place for them to be.
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? […] Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:26, 34 (ESV)
